Dorothea Alleen Puckett

Dorothea Alleen Puckett, 88, of Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care, in Knightsville, IN July 23, 2010 following a brief illness.

She was born September 6, 1921 the daughter of Levertt and Floy (Stout) Hamilton. She graduated from Jasonville High School and later married Brawn Puckett on July 6, 1940.

Dorothea was a member at North Union United Methodist Church. There she was involved in Vacation Bible School, Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She also belonged to the Sewing Connection

Dorothea was an accomplished artist and had taught painting for more than 60 years. She and her family spent many years participating in the Covered Bridge Festival where she would sell many of her paintings and artwork.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Brawn Puckett; sisters Wege Zukunft and Ruth Laing; brother Gene Hamilton and a grandson Brawn McGlone

She is survived by her daughter Janet McGlone (Dennis) of Terre Haute; son Ken Puckett (Edna) of Lebanon; grandchildren: Eric Puckett (Karen), Wade Puckett both of Lebanon and Alyson Lainhart (Steve) of Indianapolis; great grandchildren: Betty Puckett, Brawn Puckett, David Puckett, Kenny Puckett II and Megan Turner; sister Helen Callahan; sister-in-law Avinell Hamilton as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Information

Services will be at French Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday, from 11:00am until time of services.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to North Union United Methodist Church.
